The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines' Load Dropping or Load Shedding

The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) expresses its earnest apologies to its member-costumers for the power outages these past few days in different parts of its coverage area. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) had incurred Load Dropping or Load Shedding caused by the Isolation of Leyte Grid that was affected by the earthquake last July 6, 2017. For this reason, the Visayas Grid particularly experiencing a “Generation Deficiency”.

Whenever the Grid has supply deficiency and the NGCP has a problem with their substations, NOCECO could not immediately get any specific information or estimates as to when the power could resume. In some instances, in order to protect the Visayas Grid, there is also an automatic load dropping executed by the NGCP. These faults, however, are beyond the control of every Distribution Utility.

As of this writing, we have no assurance when the supply of power will normalize, to the detriment of NOCECO and its member-customers. In fact, 1-unit turbine generator of Palm Concepcion Power Corporation who supplies NOCECO with 10 megawatt base load also tripped with the same causes which intricate the current state of power deficiency. Nevertheless, we are frequently communicating with the national office of NGCP in order to resolve the matter, as soon as possible.

The consuming public is requested to get in touch with their respective electric Cooperatives for details and to observe precautionary and power conservation measures during peak hours.

To our member-costumers, we reiterate our apologies for the inconveniences. Be assured that we are doing our best to normalize the situation and serve you better.

(Guinapahibalo ang tanan nga mga miembro konsumidor sang Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) nga ang Visayas Grid maga-eksperiensya sa liwat sang “Generation Deficiency” ukon power shortage nga tuga sang padayon nga operasyon sang apektado na mga planta sa “Leyte Grid” kabangdanan sang linog nga natabo yadtong Hulyo 6, 2017. Bangud sang power shortage, may pagahimuon nga load shedding ang National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
